Add a Home Page Message

Include some instructions at the top of the Home Page for end users. A different message can be set up for Standard users and Restricted users.

Customize the Tool Tip for the Task Icon

The Task operation is used to advance a record to the next step in the process. You can customize the tool tip for that icon to display terminology specific to your process.

Set the Task Icon Tool Tip in the General Preferences section.

Add Field Help

You can provide end users with additional information or instructions about each field on a form by entering a Help Description that can be displayed above or below the field or when the user hovers over a Field Help icon next to the field.

To enter a Help Description:

  1. Login as Admin and click on the Admin icon.
  2. Click on the Fields link.
  3. Click on the Edit button to the left of a field.
  4. Enter text into the Help Description field. Use format tags to use bold, italics and other features to enhance the text.
  5. Click OK to save it.

Options for displaying Field Help are available in the General Preferences section.

Do you have a field that is a list of users' names in it?

Did you know that you can configure a pulldown field to be a "User Pulldown" that can be associated with a Tracker user group? The list of names is automatically maintained by Tracker as users are added or removed from the user group. You can send email notifications to this user and you can use this field in report criteria.

Run Reports Based on Who Fixed/Tested/Closed an Issue

Want a report that shows how many tickets were fixed by each developer? Add a user pulldown field called "Fixed By". At the point in the workflow where an issue is fixed, you can set the transition so it will save the user's name in the "Fixed By" field. Then, run a chart using the "for every Fixed By" option in the "Perform Calculations..." section. Check out the User Pulldown Knowledge Base article for details on how to create this type of field.

Are you afraid to delete users from Tracker?

  • the user is assigned to any records.
  • the user is configured as a state manager or in the New Assignee option in a transition.
  • the user is selected in report criteria.
